Custom Enchants on Factions Servers
Custom enchants are extra enchantments, added by the server, on top of vanilla ones. On Cosmic-style servers they come in enchant books sorted by rarity tier. Each book has a success rate (the chance it applies) and a destroy rate (the chance a failed book destroys your item), so enchanting is part skill, part risk.
What are the enchant tiers?
The CosmicPE wiki describes 5 primary tiers, Simple, Unique, Elite, Ultimate and Legendary, plus 3 special tiers: Soul, Heroic and Mastery. Primary-tier enchants apply straight away. Soul enchants cost souls each time they activate. Heroic enchants are stronger versions of specific primary enchants and need the primary one at max level first; applying the heroic version removes the primary one.
How do enchant books work?
- You get unopened books from an enchanter and right-click to reveal a random enchant of that tier, with a random level, success rate and destroy rate.
- Success rate: the chance the book applies.
- Destroy rate: if it fails, the chance your item is destroyed.
- Applying a higher level of an enchant you already have upgrades it; enchants cannot be downgraded or doubled.
- Each enchant only fits certain gear (sword, bow, helmet and so on).
That is the CosmicPE wiki's description; ArtemisPvP's books work the same way (see below).
How many custom enchants can an item hold?
It depends on the server. On CosmicPE the limit grows as the map ages through its milestone system, until it is removed on day 8. On ArtemisPvP items start with 9 custom enchant slots, and enchantment orbs add more; see enchantment orbs and slots.
How do players reduce the risk?
With utility items: white scrolls protect an item from a failed book, black scrolls pull an enchant back out as a book, and other items reroll or raise rates. See black and white scrolls and enchant book utility items.
How do custom enchants work on ArtemisPvP?
ArtemisPvP has 207 custom enchants, each in a book. Right-click an unopened book to examine it into a random enchant of its rarity; the book shows its Success Rate and Destroy Rate, and you drag and drop it onto the item to apply it. Items hold 9 custom enchants. Full list: enchant books and every custom enchant.
