Bad Omen, Raid Omen and Trial Omen in Minecraft
Drink an ominous bottle to get Bad Omen for 100 minutes. Walk into a village with it and it turns into Raid Omen, which starts a raid 30 seconds later; walk near a trial spawner and it turns into Trial Omen, which makes the trial chamber's spawners ominous with better loot. Ominous bottles drop from raid captains killed outside a raid, and from vaults.
How do you get Bad Omen?
- Kill a raid captain (the pillager with a banner) that is not in a raid: it always drops an ominous bottle of level I-V.
- Ominous bottles also come from vaults (levels I-II) and ominous vaults (III-V) in trial chambers.
- Drink the bottle to get Bad Omen of that level for 100 minutes.
- Since 1.21 killing a captain no longer gives the effect directly.
Captains lead patrols and outposts; see pillager outposts.
How does Raid Omen work?
Enter a village with Bad Omen and it becomes Raid Omen; when it runs out 30 seconds later, a raid starts. Waves depend on difficulty: 3 on Easy, 5 on Normal, 7 on Hard, plus one more on Java with a stronger omen (level II or higher). Beat it for Hero of the Village. Drink milk to cancel it. Full guide: raids.
How does Trial Omen work?
If a trial spawner sees you with Bad Omen, it becomes Trial Omen for 15 minutes per level, you glow with blue flames, and every trial spawner within 15 blocks that sees you turns ominous: harder mobs, ominous items dropped mid-fight, and ominous trial keys for ominous vaults with heavy cores and better loot. See trial chambers.
What should you know before using an omen?
- Do not walk into your own village with Bad Omen unless you want a raid.
- Milk removes Bad Omen, Raid Omen and Trial Omen.
- Raid farms use omens to start raids on purpose; see raid farms.
