New Minecraft servers: why join early, and what to check
A new server is a fresh start: nobody is ahead yet, the economy is young and the leaderboards are open. That is why players hunt for new Minecraft servers every year. ArtemisPvP at play.artemispvp.com is the new name of GSO PvP, a Cosmic PvP-style factions server; this page covers new servers in general and what to check before you commit to one.
Why players want a new server
- Even start. On an old server, the top players have years of gear. On a new one, everybody begins with nothing.
- A young economy. Prices are not settled yet, so early traders do well.
- Open leaderboards. Getting onto a top list is far easier in the first weeks.
- Room to build. The best land has not been claimed.
Where to find the newest servers
Most server lists have a new or recently added view, often filterable by mode and version. Reddit communities for server hunting carry launch posts, and YouTube and TikTok show launches as they happen. The server list FAQ explains how to use them.
Checks before you commit
- Is it finished? A new server should already have its main systems working, not promised.
- Who runs it? Look for a Discord with real conversation, and staff who answer.
- Is it documented? Rules, a guide or a wiki show that someone has thought it through.
- What does it sell? Check the store before you get attached.
- Does it run on your version and edition?
Where ArtemisPvP stands
ArtemisPvP is not a launch-week server: it is GSO PvP under a new name, and the old address play.gsopvp.net still lands on it. What is on it is documented on the wiki - 207 custom enchants, 14 timed events, 4 outposts, 51 trial rooms and 4 dungeons. Factions start fresh like anywhere else: you claim your first land, and that claim becomes your Core Chunk. For a new player's first day, see the new factions server page.
Is ArtemisPvP a brand new server?
No. ArtemisPvP is GSO PvP under a new name - the same server, and the old address play.gsopvp.net still works. Factions still start from nothing: your first claim becomes your Core Chunk.
