What makes a Minecraft server fun
A fun server is one you want to log back into tomorrow. That comes down to three things: something happening right now, something to work toward, and other players to do it with. ArtemisPvP, a factions server at play.artemispvp.com, builds around all three - 14 timed events, 7 minigames, duels, bosses and 18 leaderboards.
Something is always happening
Quiet servers die. On ArtemisPvP the world runs on a clock: envoys drop loot every 30 minutes, KOTH opens every 6 hours, strongholds pay out every 2 hours, and conquests put guarded chests in the wild, the Nether and the End. Chat games, a jackpot, horse racing and a black market auction run between the fights. The full list is on world events.
Short games when you have ten minutes
Not every session needs a raid. The minigames are Bed Wars, Sky Wars, Hunger Games, Spleef, Pillars, Quakecraft and Battle Royale. Duels are one-on-one fights, ranked or unranked; with Damage Scaling on, damage rises in long duels: x2 after 5 minutes and x3 after 15 minutes. Last Man Standing runs in 3 arenas: Overworld, Nether and End.
PvE for when you want a fight without other players
- 6 boss eggs you can hatch and fight.
- 4 dungeons for parties of up to 4.
- 51 trial rooms in 6 tiers, from Recruit to Impossible.
- 12 kinds of warzone mobs to farm.
Something to work toward
Long-term goals keep a server fun past the first week. Gear is the big one: 207 custom enchants to collect and stack, 11 armor sets, masks, pets and charms. Then there is status: 312 titles to unlock, 37 mob disguises, and 18 leaderboards from money to kills. For factions, Faction Points rank every faction, with 25,000 for holding your Core Chunk and 500 per KOTH capture.
How to tell if a server will stay fun
Before you commit to any server, look for a published event schedule, a wiki or guide that is kept up to date, an active Discord, and a reason to log in that is not only grinding. A server that documents its systems has usually thought about them. If a server cannot tell you what happens at eight o'clock tonight, it probably does not know either.
What can you do on ArtemisPvP besides factions?
Plenty: 7 minigames (Bed Wars, Sky Wars, Hunger Games, Spleef, Pillars, Quakecraft and Battle Royale), duels, Last Man Standing in 3 arenas, 51 trial rooms and 4 dungeons.
Is there anything to do on ArtemisPvP when your faction is offline?
Yes. Envoys drop every 30 minutes and anyone can loot them; trial rooms, boss eggs and minigames need no faction at all.
