Free Minecraft servers to join
Almost every public Minecraft server is free to join: you type the address and play. ArtemisPvP is one of them - joining play.artemispvp.com costs nothing. What differs between servers is what you still need before you can join, and how much of the game is earned by playing rather than bought.
Free to join is not free hosting
Two different things share the word free. A free server to join is someone else's server that lets you in without paying. Free hosting is running your own server for you and your friends without paying a host. This page is about the first. What you still need
- Your own copy of Minecraft. Public servers check your account when you join. Cracked (non-premium) accounts cannot join.
- The right edition. Java and Bedrock players can both join.
- A supported version. ArtemisPvP is built for 1.8.9, and newer Java clients up to 26.2 connect too.
- No mods. Everything custom runs on the server, so there is nothing to download or install.
How gear is earned on ArtemisPvP
On a factions server, the gear you carry decides fights. On ArtemisPvP the routes to gear all run through playing:
- Kits for your first set, claimable in game.
- Envoys that drop loot every 30 minutes, and 14 kinds of chests to open.
- Enchanting with books, scrolls and soul gems across 207 custom enchants.
- Trading on the auction house, where listings last 2 days.
- Rewards from trial rooms, dungeons, boss eggs and events such as KOTH, whose capper takes $1,000,000.
Questions to ask any free server
- Can the best gear be earned in game? If it can only be bought, free players are always behind.
- Is there a store, and what does it sell? Cosmetics and ranks are one thing; enchants and top gear are another.
- Do free players get the events? Envoys, KOTH and bosses should be open to everyone.
- Does the server ask for anything besides a Minecraft account? A normal server never needs your password.

Can you get top gear on ArtemisPvP without paying?
Yes - gear is earned in game: kits, envoys every 30 minutes, chests, enchanting, the auction house and events such as KOTH. The store link in the site menu is not open yet.
Does ArtemisPvP ever ask for my Minecraft password?
No. You join at play.artemispvp.com through your own launcher. No staff member, website or in-game menu needs your password - never give it to anyone.
