A factions server that is fair to beginners

Factions has a reputation for being brutal to new players. Some of that is the mode - other players can raid you - and some of it is server design. ArtemisPvP at play.artemispvp.com has rules that take the edge off: dying never costs power, shields protect your land for part of every day, and there is a lot to do that is not PvP.

What protects you while you learn

  • Fixed power. Every player has 100 power and dying never lowers it, so a bad fight cannot make your faction raidable.
  • Shields. A faction's shield stops explosions in its land 16 hours a day.
  • Safe zones. Explosions are blocked in the Safezone and the Warzone.
  • A permanent home. Your Core Chunk never expires, and neither does land touching your base.

Start where the mobs are easy

The server has 6 warps. Spawn has the easiest mobs; Winter has the hardest. Gear up around spawn first, where the NPCs are: the shop, the Enchanter, a free repair bot, dungeon keys, quests and duels.

Learn one system at a time

  1. Kits. Claim kits for your first gear.
  2. Enchants. Read how enchant books work: a success rate, a destroy rate, and 8 rarities.
  3. Trials. Start the trial rooms at Recruit, the first of 6 tiers.
  4. PvP. Practise in unranked duels before you fight for an outpost.
  5. Raiding. Watch a raid before you plan one; the raiding page explains the rules.

Mistakes new players make

  • Claiming far from home. Land away from your base is a Wild Claim that pays Tax Tim $100,000 every 24 hours or breaks.
  • Carrying everything. Keep valuables in a vault, not on you at an outpost - dying there is a 5-minute death ban as well.
  • Applying books blind. A failed book can destroy the item; read the destroy rate first.
  • Playing alone too long. A faction of friends makes everything easier; see playing solo for how to find one.

Questions

Can losing fights make your faction raidable on ArtemisPvP?

No. Every player has a fixed 100 power and dying never lowers it, so losing fights never costs your faction its land. Raids depend on the shield hours and your walls.
