What Cosmic-style means on ArtemisPvP

A Cosmic-style server is a factions server where the gear and the events matter as much as the land. You do not just claim and raid; you enchant, socket and upgrade gear, then take it to timed events to fight other factions over loot. That is the shape ArtemisPvP is built around. Each part below is a real system on the server, with its own page.

Raiding

Raids use 4 kinds of custom TNT and 5 kinds of custom creepers. A faction's shield stops explosions in its land 16 hours a day, so raids are planned around the open hours. The full rules are on the raiding and cannoning page.

How to judge any Cosmic-style server

Plenty of servers use the word Cosmic in a title. A few questions separate a real attempt from a name on a list:

  1. Are the enchants documented? A real custom enchant system can tell you every enchant, its rarity and what it does at each level.
  2. Do the events run on a timer you can read? Envoys, KOTH and conquests should have a published schedule.
  3. What version is the combat balanced for? Many Cosmic-style servers are balanced for 1.8.9 combat.
  4. How do raids work? Shields, claim rules and TNT types decide whether a new faction survives its first week.

ArtemisPvP answers each of these on its wiki. The longer checklist is on how to choose a factions server.

About Cosmic PvP itself

Questions about the original server - what it was, whether it is still running and what its address is - are answered on the Cosmic PvP FAQ. The ArtemisPvP wiki also has a page for players searching for a Cosmic PvP test server.
