Protecting Your Valuables on PvP Servers
The safest place for valuables on a PvP server is an ender chest: its contents are personal and are not dropped if the block is destroyed. minecraft.wiki's PvP guide adds two tricks: a decoy chest of ordinary items in your house, and a buried chest with everything needed to craft a new ender chest.
Why use an ender chest?
Items in an ender chest belong to you, not the block, so you can open them from any ender chest. The guide notes ender chests do not drop their contents when destroyed, which is why it recommends them for bases that might be raided. Item basics: shulker boxes and ender chests.
What is a decoy chest?
A chest in your house with basic items and a few valuables mixed in, so raiders think they found your stash. The guide pairs it with a buried chest a short way away holding 8 obsidian, an eye of ender and a crafting table, enough to craft a new ender chest even if your house is a crater.
Why spread valuables out?
Because one discovered chest should not cost you everything. Splitting items between an ender chest, a decoy, a buried kit and a hidden stash means a raider who finds one still leaves you able to rebuild. The same idea is behind keeping a private backup base on PvP servers.
What is an item stash?
A small (no more than about 4 x 4 x 2) camouflaged room with spare equipment, known only to trusted members, ideally underground where nobody would dig. See war structures and troops.
What about factions servers?
Factions servers protect claimed land, but insiders and raids still happen. Lock storage with permissions (roles and permissions) and use faction vaults where the server has them (faction money and vaults). On servers whose rules require spawners and custom blocks to stay raidable, such as CosmicPE, they cannot be hidden (server rules).
