How to Start a Faction: First Day Guide
To start a faction: make it with /f create, give it a description, claim a chunk with /f claim, set a home with /f set home and invite members with /f invite. Then pick a defensible base spot, plan walls before building, and set shield hours if your server has shields.
What are the first steps?
- /f create <name> makes the faction and you its leader.
- /f set description <text> tells others who you are.
- Stand where you want to build and /f claim the chunk.
- /f set home so members can /f home back.
- /f invite <player>; they join with /f join <faction>.
- /f set perms and roles before you hand out trust.
Steps 1 to 5 follow FactionsUUID's first-steps guide; step 6 is our advice. Full list: factions commands.
Where should you build?
- The CosmicPE base guide suggests a map corner, so two sides need no defences.
- Plan the shell and buffer at the lowest level before building, and check sizes on /f map.
- Keep important rooms in the middle of your claims.
- Claim every chunk your walls touch; minecraft.wiki's PvP guide notes walls in unclaimed land can just be mined.
Layout ideas: base building and buffers and walls.
How much land can you take?
On power-based servers, about one chunk per point of power; on DTR servers, a set amount per member. Do not claim right up to your limit. See power and claims and DTR.
How do you avoid an early raid?
Set shield hours over your offline time if the server has shields (shields and grace), start new members on a low role, and do not reveal your base location in public chat.
How do you start on ArtemisPvP?
Make a faction with /f create <name> (3 to 10 characters) and claim your first chunk, which becomes your Core Chunk; land touching your base never expires, and a new faction is shielded for its first 48 hours. Follow the Factions guide and getting started.
