How to Defend a Factions Base
Defend a factions base in layers: a strong shell, watered wraps with slabs in the gaps against sand, reverse layers under the base, every wall inside your claims, shields over your offline hours, and tight member permissions. Then be ready to repair and counter-cannon when a raid starts.
What should the walls look like?
- Shell of the toughest block allowed, usually obsidian. Blast resistance.
- Wraps: layers with a watered one-block gap. Buffers and walls.
- Slabs in the gaps at the lowest level to stop sand stacking. Sand stacking.
- Reverse layers against breaches from below.
- Claimed: keep every wall chunk claimed, so nothing can simply be mined.
Shell, wraps and reverse layers are described in the CosmicPE base guide.
How do you stop insiders?
Shields do not stop members who can already build. Start recruits on the lowest role and lock spawners and chests. See roles and permissions and infiltration.
How do you cover offline hours?
Set shield hours to cover them where shields exist, and know your power or DTR: dying a lot can leave you raidable or overclaimable. See shields and overclaiming.
How do you know you are being raided?
minecraft.wiki's cannon intel page describes alarms that detect blocks being destroyed, with one detector per 7 x 7 area often enough because cannon holes are wide. Spotters watching from safe outlooks help too. See cannon intel.
How do you fight back?
Repair the breach, attack the raiders' cannon box with your own cannon or players, and know what limits apply during a raid on your server. Armour and shielding ideas: armor and shielding.
How are bases protected on ArtemisPvP?
Shields protect your claims 16 hours a day from a start hour you pick, and a new faction is shielded for its first 48 hours. Wild claims must be fuelled or they turn Broken, losing their shield. See Factions basics.
