Reading /f map and Faction Territory
/f map shows a small text map of the chunks around you, marking who owns each one. Use it to see claims before you build, spot raid claims near your base, and plan walls on chunk borders. FactionsUUID can show it automatically as you cross chunks, and can draw chunk corners in the world.
Which map commands are there?
| Command (FactionsUUID) | What it does |
|---|---|
| /f map | Shows the map |
| /f map --auto-on / --auto-off | Shows the map automatically when you cross a chunk border |
| /f map --set-height [height] | Sets how tall the map is |
| /f toggle seechunk | Draws particles at chunk corners so you can see claim borders |
| /f list claims | Lists your faction's claims |
What do the colours mean?
Each server styles the map its own way. The CosmicPE wiki describes its /f map showing a faction's core claim in yellow, base claims in light green and raid claims in dark green. On ArtemisPvP, your own members show in green, allies in pink and enemies in red, in chat, on nametags and on /f map. Claim types: claim types.
Why do chunk borders matter?
Claims are whole chunks: 16 x 16 blocks from the bottom to the top of the world, as FactionsUUID's definitions put it. Build walls along chunk borders so every wall block is in claimed land; minecraft.wiki's PvP guide warns walls in unclaimed land can be mined straight through. The Planet Minecraft faction schematic pack also aligns its designs to chunks, to make the most of chunk claims. Chunk basics: chunks and ticks.
How do raiders use the map?
To find bases (clusters of claims), spot raid claims being set up near them, and pick where to claim a cannon box. Defenders use it the same way in reverse: a new claim cluster next to your buffer is a warning. See raid claims and intel.
What extra map tools does ArtemisPvP have?
/f chunk tells you the claim type of the chunk you stand in, and /fp claims lists claims at risk of expiring. See Factions basics.
