Coin Flips and Jackpot

Coin flips are 50/50 bets between two players: one puts up an amount, another accepts, and the winner takes the pot minus the server's cut. Jackpot is a server-wide lottery: players buy tickets, every ticket grows the pot, and one winner is drawn on a timer. Both are common on Cosmic-style servers.

How does a coin flip work?

A player creates a flip for an amount, another player takes the other side, and the coin decides the winner, who gets the pot minus a cut. The CosmicPE wiki's glossary lists 'cf' for coin flip and 'icf' for item coin flip, and its Frozen stronghold perk lowers coin flip tax.

How do coin flips and jackpot work on ArtemisPvP?

  • Coin flips: the smallest bet is $1,000 and the server keeps 5% of the pot; /coinflip <amount> puts up a bet and you pick one of 9 colours. There is no maximum bet, and Tax Tim will take a flip any time.
  • XP flips: the smallest bet is 1,000 XP, with a 5% cut; /xpflip <amount>.
  • Jackpot: a lottery every 4 hours; tickets cost $10,000 each and every ticket grows the pot. Buy with /jackpot and right-click a ticket to enter. If nobody buys, the pot carries over.

See coin flips and jackpot. The Frozen Stronghold halves coin flip tax and adds bonus jackpot tickets; see strongholds.

How do you take someone's coin flip?

On ArtemisPvP, open /coinflip and pick a flip someone else created; when it is accepted, a 5-second countdown runs and the coin rolls. The winner takes the pot minus the server's cut. For the jackpot, the more tickets you hold the better your chance, and the winner announcement shows what share of the tickets they had.

Is it worth it?

A fair 50/50 flip with a house cut loses money on average over many flips, by the size of the cut. Bet only what you can afford to lose, and keep your raid and upgrade money separate. Economy: economy.
