Bedrock PvP Techniques
Bedrock Edition PvP has no attack cooldown and is usually spam-click combat, so aim consistency and steady clicking are the two core skills. Many Bedrock servers also change the rules: The Hive disables critical hits, and The Hive and CubeCraft make sprint hits and normal hits knock back the same.
What hit types are there on Bedrock?
- Normal attack: base damage and knockback.
- Critical hit: 1.5 times damage while falling; can combine with a sprint hit on Bedrock.
- Sprint-knockback hit: more horizontal knockback in vanilla Bedrock.
In Bedrock, an airborne target takes the same knockback as a grounded one, unlike Java.
Which movement techniques matter?
| Technique | What you do |
|---|---|
| Momentum maintenance | Do not stand still or hold S while landing hits, or knockback pushes you to the edge of their reach |
| A-tap / D-tap | Tap sideways after a hit, like a sideways W-tap, to fix your angle |
| Counter-strafing | Strafe opposite to their circle to cut off their arc |
| Trade strafing | Alternate A and D in close trades to take less knockback |
| Crouch dodge | Toggle crouch to shrink your hitbox (The Hive disables the shrink) |
| Reduced-KB crit | Hold W after a crit; knockback is only reduced on Bedrock, not cancelled |
| Aerial slow-clicking | On high-knockback servers, click about 2 CPS to keep an airborne opponent in range |
| Time-clicking | Click at a chosen CPS to match the server's hit registration rhythm |
How do projectiles start combos on Bedrock?
Bows, eggs, snowballs, fishing rods and even ender pearls thrown at an opponent knock them back, so a hit followed straight away by melee starts a combo. Eggs and snowballs knock back players on Bedrock even without damage. See fishing rod PvP.
What are the bow duel skills?
Full-charge shots when range allows, partial charge for pressure, leading moving targets, bow strafing, reading the opponent's shot rhythm, height advantage, Punch near edges and Flame for chip damage, then a timed switch to melee. Bow boosting exists but some servers disable it. More: bow PvP.
Can Bedrock players fight on ArtemisPvP?
Yes. Java and Bedrock players can both join ArtemisPvP; see how to join. For a Bedrock overview, see Bedrock Edition PvP and our note on critical hits.
