Village & Pillage (1.14)
1.14, Village & Pillage, is the Java Edition update released on 23 April 2019. It rebuilt villages to match their biome, added pillagers, ravagers and raids, the wandering trader, pandas and foxes, bamboo jungles, sweet berries, and new job-site blocks such as the lectern, composter, grindstone, stonecutter and barrel. Seven new mobs arrived, the most since 1.0.0.
How did 1.14 change villages?
Village buildings were redesigned to match the biome they generate in, and villagers got job site blocks: a villager takes the profession of the block it claims, such as a lectern for a librarian or a composter for a farmer. See villager jobs.
What are pillagers and raids?
Pillagers are crossbow-wielding illagers. Together with the ravager, they attack villages in raids, which also arrived in 1.14. The crossbow came in the same update. See raids.
What new blocks and items came in 1.14?
- Job site and utility blocks: lectern, composter, grindstone, stonecutter, smithing table, barrel, bell, campfire and lantern.
- Scaffolding, sweet berries and bamboo.
- The crossbow.
Which other mobs and biomes were added?
The wandering trader, pandas in the new bamboo jungle biome, and foxes in an updated taiga with sweet berry bushes. 1.14 was also the first major release with the new textures of the Texture Update.
