UHC (Ultra Hardcore)
UHC (Ultra Hardcore) is Hardcore Minecraft with natural health regeneration turned off: you only heal with golden apples, potions and similar items, so every point of damage counts. As a PvP kit, UHC means fighting without natural healing, using cobwebs and lava and water buckets.
What does UHC mean in Minecraft?
UHC stands for Ultra Hardcore. minecraft.wiki explains it as Hardcore mode with one extra rule: the player cannot regenerate health naturally. All the Hardcore rules still apply. Hardcore itself is Survival locked to Hard difficulty, and you cannot respawn after dying.
In normal Survival you heal by yourself whenever your hunger bar is at 18 or higher (9 drumsticks) and the game rule naturalRegeneration is on. UHC turns that game rule off.
How do you make a UHC world?
On Java Edition 1.16 or later, create a world in Hardcore, open the game rules, set natural regeneration to off and create it. On Bedrock Edition, choose Hardcore, open Advanced and switch natural regeneration off. On an existing Java world with cheats on, the command is /gamerule natural_health_regeneration false on 1.21.11 or later, or /gamerule naturalRegeneration false on older versions; game rules were renamed to snake_case in 1.21.11.
How do you heal in UHC?
- Golden apples: Regeneration II for 5 seconds and Absorption for 2 minutes.
- Potions of Healing or Regeneration.
- Suspicious stew with Regeneration, made with oxeye daisies.
- A beacon's Regeneration effect while you stay in range.
Food still matters: you need a full hunger bar to sprint and to avoid starving, even though it no longer heals you.
What are the best UHC tips?
- Avoid every small source of damage; it never comes back by itself.
- Gather starting resources fast.
- Keep a water bucket on the hotbar to cancel fall damage and put out fire.
