Minecraft System Requirements (PC)

To run Minecraft Java Edition at its minimum target (1080p at 30 FPS on the Fast preset) you need Windows 10 64-bit, macOS 12+ or 64-bit Linux, 8 GB of RAM with a separate graphics card (12 GB with integrated graphics) and a Vulkan 1.3 GPU with 2 GB of VRAM. Bedrock on Windows needs only 4 GB of RAM.

minecraft.net notes that Bedrock does not need a powerful computer and often runs more smoothly than Java.

Which edition runs better on a weak PC?

By these numbers Bedrock is far lighter: 4 GB of RAM against Java's 8 to 12 GB minimum. On Java, lower render distance, Fast graphics and an unlimited frame cap help most; minecraft.wiki's PvP guide recommends exactly those for low-end systems, and optimisation mods can raise frame rates further. See mods and resource packs and Bedrock vs Java.
