Swift Sneak Enchantment in Minecraft: What It Does
Swift Sneak lets you move faster while sneaking, so you can stay quiet near sculk without crawling along. It is a treasure enchantment found only in ancient city chests, which makes it one of the rarer enchantments. Level III makes sneaking much closer to walking speed.
Swift Sneak at a glance
| Max level | III |
| Goes on | Leggings |
| Cannot combine with | None; it goes with Protection. |
| Where to get it | Ancient city chests only (as books); not tables or villagers. |
Get enchantments from an enchanting table with bookshelves, from enchanted books on an anvil, from librarian villagers, or as loot; see enchanting and anvils.
What does Swift Sneak do?
Each level raises sneaking speed. It is especially useful in the deep dark and when building on edges. More: ancient cities.
More about Swift Sneak
Sneaking keeps you from falling off edges and stops sculk sensors noticing your steps, so faster sneaking helps both builders and explorers. It is a leggings-only enchantment, so it does not compete with anything on your boots or chestplate.
Enchanting tables use lapis lazuli and experience levels, anvils combine books and gear, and librarians sell books. Treasure enchantments only come from loot, trading and fishing, never the table, and higher levels cost more experience to apply and repair.
Tips for Swift Sneak
Bring a Swift Sneak book home from your first ancient city and combine it onto Mending leggings. Every enchantment: every enchantment.
