Every Status Effect in Minecraft
Status effects are temporary buffs and debuffs from potions, food, beacons, mobs and blocks. Minecraft has over 40 of them, split into positive (Speed, Strength, Regeneration), negative (Poison, Wither, Slowness) and neutral (Bad Omen, Glowing) effects.
What are status effects?
A status effect changes a player or mob for a while: drinking a potion, eating a golden apple, standing near a beacon or getting hit by some mobs all apply one. In Java Edition, positive effects show blue text in potion tooltips and sit on the top row of the HUD; negative effects show red and sit on the bottom row with the neutral ones. On Bedrock, negative effect names show in red.

- Blindness: stops sprinting and critical hits, a strong debuff.
- Weakness and Slowness: the classic splash debuffs.
How to brew each potion is on the brewing guide; golden apple effects are on golden apples.
