Spring to Life (1.21.5)
1.21.5, Spring to Life, is the Java Edition game drop released on 25 March 2025. It adds cold and warm variants of pigs, cows and chickens, new plants such as leaf litter, wildflowers and firefly bushes, and new spawn egg textures.
What are the new farm animal variants?
Pigs, cows and chickens now come in three versions: temperate (the original), cold and warm, each spawning in matching biomes. Cows also got a new texture and model. Cold chickens lay blue eggs and warm chickens lay brown eggs, and each egg hatches a chick of the same variant.
Wolves gained sound variants too: Classic, Big, Cute, Puglin, Angry, Grumpy and Sad, picked at random when a wolf spawns.
What plants were added in Spring to Life?
- Leaf litter in forests, dark forests and wooded badlands; it can also be smelted from any leaves.
- Wildflowers in birch forests, old growth birch forests and meadows.
- Bush, a new plant in plains, windswept hills and other biomes.
- Firefly bush in swamps and near rivers; at light level 13 or lower it gives off firefly particles up to 5 blocks away.
- Cactus flower, which grows on cacti in deserts and badlands.
- Short and tall dry grass in deserts and badlands.
Did 1.21.5 bring Bedrock features to Java?
Yes. minecraft.wiki notes that Spring to Life added several features that were previously only in Bedrock Edition to Java Edition, and every spawn egg got a new texture. It was the first Java version released in 2025. See Bedrock vs Java for the differences that remain.
Can you use 1.21.5 on ArtemisPvP?
