Spider Eye in Minecraft: Hunger and Saturation
A spider eye restores 2 hunger and 3.2 saturation but always poisons you for 5 seconds. It is mainly a brewing ingredient: it makes Poison potions and, fermented, turns potions into their opposites.
How much does spider eye restore?
| Hunger | 2 |
| Saturation | 3.2 |
Each hunger point is half a drumstick, so 2 hunger is 1 drumsticks.
How do you get it?
Spiders, cave spiders and witches drop spider eyes, and they appear in desert pyramid chests.
Tips
Spider eyes breed armadillos. Craft one with sugar and a brown mushroom for a fermented spider eye.
More about spider eye
The poison deals 4 damage over its 5 seconds. Witches drop spider eyes too, so a witch farm gives plenty for brewing along with redstone and glowstone.
How hunger works
Hunger points refill the hunger bar (20 points, 10 drumsticks), and saturation is a hidden buffer that drains first. With 18 or more hunger, or any saturation, health regenerates naturally; at 6 or less you cannot sprint, and at 0 you take starvation damage. Most foods take 1.6 seconds to eat, and you cannot eat at full hunger except a few special foods. Foods with high saturation keep you healing longer, which matters most in fights. Raw food cooks the same in a furnace, a smoker or a campfire: smokers are twice as fast, and campfires need no fuel at all. See food and hunger and brewing.
