Minecraft Speedrunning Guide
A Minecraft speedrun usually means reaching the End and killing the Ender Dragon as fast as possible. The main category is Any% on a random seed (RSG); minecraft.wiki records the fastest glitchless Any% RSG as 6:39, set by Skycrab on 27 July 2026.
What are the Minecraft speedrun categories?

Runs are also split by version: pre-1.9 (usually 1.7.2 or 1.8.9), 1.9-1.12, 1.13-1.15 and 1.16+ (usually 1.16.1).
What is the usual speedrun route?
- Get 4 logs, a wooden pickaxe, then stone tools; village hay bales make quick bread.
- Build a Nether portal with a water bucket and lava instead of mining obsidian.
- In the Nether, find a bastion for pearls through piglin bartering and a fortress for blaze rods.
- Back in the Overworld, craft eyes of ender and triangulate the stronghold.
- In the End, use beds to blow up the dragon: four beds are enough without destroying the End crystals.
How do speedrunners get ender pearls?
minecraft.wiki calls pearls the most time-consuming part of most runs. Endermen are most common in warped forests in the Nether; they cannot enter a space less than three blocks high and cannot teleport while riding a boat. Bartering at a bastion is the other source; wear a piece of gold armour so piglins stay calm, and do not break anything golden near them. See ender pearls and bartering.

- Turn on subtitles to hear lava, mobs and silverfish in the stronghold portal room.
- Set animals on fire with flint and steel to get cooked meat.
- Travel east or west in the Nether to find fortresses more easily.
- Snowballs hurt blazes, and Fire Resistance blocks their fire charges.
- Triangulate with two eyes of ender thrown 17.5 blocks apart, perpendicular to the first throw.
