How to Set Your Spawn Point With Commands
Type /spawnpoint to set your own respawn point to where you stand, or /spawnpoint Steve 100 64 -50 for another player. /setworldspawn sets the world spawn that new players and players without a bed use. Both need cheats or operator rights. In survival, sleeping in a bed or charging a respawn anchor sets your spawn instead.
What is the difference between the two commands?
| Command | Sets | Example |
|---|---|---|
| /spawnpoint | One player's personal respawn point, in any dimension | /spawnpoint @a ~ ~ ~ |
| /setworldspawn | The world's spawn for everyone without a personal spawn | /setworldspawn 0 70 0 |
Java can also set the facing angle at the end. Respawn positions near the world spawn are spread out by the respawn_radius game rule (Java) or spawnradius (Bedrock); see game rules.
How do you set spawn without commands?
- Sleep in a bed, or simply use one in the daytime; either sets your spawn.
- Charge a respawn anchor with glowstone in the Nether; see respawn anchors.
- If the bed or anchor is broken or blocked, you respawn at world spawn instead.
More: spawn points and beds.
Why didn't I respawn where I set it?
- The block at the spot is obstructed; the game moves you or uses world spawn.
- Your bed was destroyed or the anchor ran out of charges.
- On a server, a plugin may override respawn, for example sending everyone to spawn.
- Bedrock clamps coordinates to the world limits.
