Snowy Slopes Biome in Minecraft: Where It Is and What's There
Snowy slopes are bare, snowy mountainsides made of stone under layers of snow blocks, with patches of powder snow. They are like groves but have no trees. Goats live here, and it is the only mountain biome where igloos can generate.
Where does the snowy slopes generate?
They form mountain slopes in cold to temperate places where humidity is low, and lead up to jagged and frozen peaks. In very low temperatures they can stretch into valleys with frozen rivers and ice spikes.
What is in a snowy slopes?
- Several layers of snow blocks over stone
- Powder snow strips that trap anyone without leather boots
- Stone cliffs on steep north or east sides
- Emerald ore and infested stone
Mobs and structures
Goats and snowy rabbits spawn here, and polar bears on Bedrock only. At night strays can appear alongside normal hostile mobs. Igloos and pillager outposts can generate.
How do you find one?
The fastest way to find one in a world with cheats is /locate biome minecraft:snowy_slopes, which works on Java and Bedrock (Bedrock uses its own IDs for some biomes, so let tab-complete fill it in). The F3 screen on Java shows the biome you stand in. The search covers a large area but can miss very narrow strips of a biome.
How biomes are placed
Overworld biomes are placed by a few hidden noise values: temperature, humidity, continentalness (how far inland), erosion (how flat) and weirdness. That is why the same neighbours keep showing up together, and why a biome you want is usually found next to its usual partners. Biomes look and work almost the same on Java and Bedrock, with small differences in mobs and structures noted on this page. See all biomes and goats.
Tip
Goats can ram you off a cliff here, so stay away from the edge when you hear one.
Does ArtemisPvP have its own worlds?
