Riptide Enchantment in Minecraft: What It Does
Riptide launches you in the direction you aim when you throw a trident while in water or rain, instead of throwing the trident. Higher levels launch you further. It cannot be combined with Loyalty or Channeling, and it does nothing when the weather is dry and you are on land.
Riptide at a glance
| Max level | III |
| Goes on | Tridents |
| Cannot combine with | Loyalty and Channeling. |
| Where to get it | Enchanting tables, librarians and loot. |
Get enchantments from an enchanting table with bookshelves, from enchanted books on an anvil, from librarian villagers, or as loot; see enchanting and anvils.
What does Riptide do?
Combine with elytra for fast flights in the rain, or use it to move quickly underwater. More: trident enchantments.
More about Riptide
It can launch you up waterfalls and water columns, and in rain it works on dry land too. You cannot use Riptide while riding, and it only launches you when you have enough water or rain around you, so check the weather first.
Enchanting tables use lapis lazuli and experience levels, anvils combine books and gear, and librarians sell books. Treasure enchantments only come from loot, trading and fishing, never the table, and higher levels cost more experience to apply and repair.
Tips for Riptide
Riptide III plus a thunderstorm and elytra is one of the fastest ways to travel. Every enchantment: every enchantment.
Does ArtemisPvP have custom enchants too?
