Resistance Effect in Minecraft: Causes and Cures
Resistance cuts the damage you take by 20% per level, so Resistance V makes you immune to most damage. You get it from a beacon (Resistance needs a level 2 pyramid, Resistance II a level 4 one), enchanted golden apples, and Potions of the Turtle Master.
What gives Resistance?
| Cause | Notes |
|---|---|
| Beacon set to Resistance | Level 2 pyramid; II needs level 4 |
| Enchanted golden apple | Resistance |
| Potion of the Turtle Master | Resistance with Slowness |
Every effect in the game: status effects.
What does Resistance do?
It reduces most kinds of damage after armor, and stacks with armor and Protection. Level V or higher blocks most damage entirely. See beacons.
How do you remove or counter it?
Milk removes it. There is no plain Resistance potion; Turtle Master pairs it with Slowness. Most effects show an icon in your inventory and at the top right of the screen, with the time left; the /effect command can give or clear any of them.
More about Resistance
Resistance V or higher, which only commands give, blocks most damage, so map makers use it for safe zones. On a beacon, Resistance is one of the primary powers, and choosing it again as the secondary raises it to level II with a full pyramid.
Status effects come from potions, food, beacons, conduits, mobs and blocks. Each has a level and a timer, and most can be cleared by drinking milk; beacon and conduit effects keep refreshing while you stay in range, so they never run out there.
Tips
A beacon with Resistance II makes a base much safer in raids. Related: Turtle Master.
