Rabbits in Minecraft: Rabbit's Foot, Hide and Breeding
Rabbits are small hopping animals in deserts, snowy biomes, flower forests and other grassy biomes. They run from players unless you hold carrots, golden carrots or dandelions, which also breed them. They drop raw rabbit, rabbit hide (4 make leather) and sometimes a rabbit's foot for Leaping potions.
What do rabbits drop?
| Drop | Use |
|---|---|
| Raw rabbit (1 on Java, 0-1 on Bedrock) | Cooked rabbit and rabbit stew |
| Rabbit hide (0-1) | 4 hides make 1 leather |
| Rabbit's foot (rare) | Brewing Potions of Leaping; see the brewing guide |
| Experience | 1-3 when killed by a player |
Brewing: brewing potions.
What colors are rabbits?
Six natural looks set by biome: gold rabbits are the most common and live only in deserts; snowy biomes give 80% white and 20% black-and-white; other biomes give 50% brown, 40% salt and pepper and 10% black. Name a rabbit Toast for a special memorial skin. See name tags.
How do you catch and breed rabbits?
Hold carrots, golden carrots or dandelions: rabbits slowly come to you from 8 blocks. Feed two to breed them; babies grow up in 20 minutes. They jump over fences, so pen them with 2-high walls, and they flee from wolves and most monsters. See breeding animals.
What is the killer bunny?
A hostile Java-only rabbit that can only be summoned with commands. It chases players and wolves within 16 blocks and bites for 8 damage on Normal, a nod to Monty Python's killer rabbit. Normal rabbits are harmless.
