Potion of the Turtle Master in Minecraft: Recipe and Effects
A Potion of the Turtle Master gives Slowness IV and Resistance III together for 20 seconds: you move very slowly but take 60% less damage. Turtle Master II gives Slowness VI and Resistance IV, 80% less damage. Brew it from an Awkward Potion and a turtle shell; redstone extends the normal one to 40 seconds.
How do you brew a Potion of the Turtle Master?
| Potion | Made from | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Turtle Master | Awkward Potion + turtle shell | 0:20 |
| Long Turtle Master | + redstone | 0:40 |
| Turtle Master II | + glowstone dust | 0:20 |
Brew in a brewing stand fuelled with blaze powder: water bottles plus Nether wart make Awkward Potions, the base for most potions; see brewing potions.
What does it do?
It trades speed for survival: you barely move, but hits do far less damage. Effect list: every potion.
When should you use it?
Use it to hold a spot under heavy attack, such as tanking a boss or holding a doorway. It is weak when you need to chase or flee. See turtles.
Step by step
Fill three glass bottles with water and place them in the bottom slots of a brewing stand, with blaze powder as fuel. Add Nether wart to make Awkward Potions (Weakness skips this step), then add the main ingredient. Finally add redstone for a longer version, glowstone for a stronger one, or gunpowder for a splash potion. Turtle Master II slows you by 90%, to roughly half a block per second.
Splash, lingering and tips
Turtle shells are crafted from 5 turtle scutes. Add gunpowder for a splash version you throw, then dragon's breath for a lingering cloud; see splash and lingering potions. Related: status effects.
