Potion of Oozing in Minecraft: Recipe and Effects
A Potion of Oozing gives the Oozing effect for 3 minutes: if the affected mob dies, two medium slimes spawn where it fell. Brew it from an Awkward Potion and a slime block. It came with Tricky Trials (1.21), and ominous trial spawners can throw it at you.
How do you brew a Potion of Oozing?
| Potion | Made from | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Potion of Oozing | Awkward Potion + slime block | 3:00 |
Brew in a brewing stand fuelled with blaze powder: water bottles plus Nether wart make Awkward Potions, the base for most potions; see brewing potions.
What does it do?
Only a death triggers it, and it always makes two medium slimes, whatever the level. Effect list: every potion.
When should you use it?
Used in minigames, or thrown to surprise a fighter with extra slimes. It does not trigger when a slime with Oozing dies. See slimes.
Step by step
Fill three glass bottles with water and place them in the bottom slots of a brewing stand, with blaze powder as fuel. Add Nether wart to make Awkward Potions (Weakness skips this step), then add the main ingredient. Finally add redstone for a longer version, glowstone for a stronger one, or gunpowder for a splash potion. On Java, Oozing only spawns slimes up to the entity cramming count in a small area around the mob.
Splash, lingering and tips
On Java, Oozing only spawns slimes up to the entity cramming limit in a small area. Add gunpowder for a splash version you throw, then dragon's breath for a lingering cloud; see splash and lingering potions. Related: trial chambers.
