Potion of Leaping in Minecraft: Recipe and Effects
A Potion of Leaping lets you jump higher, about 1.83 blocks, for 3 minutes, or 2.51 blocks with Leaping II for 1:30. Brew it from an Awkward Potion and a rabbit's foot; redstone extends it to 8 minutes. It also reduces fall damage a little.
How do you brew a Potion of Leaping?
| Potion | Made from | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Potion of Leaping | Awkward Potion + rabbit's foot | 3:00 |
| Long Leaping | + redstone | 8:00 |
| Leaping II | + glowstone dust | 1:30 |
Brew in a brewing stand fuelled with blaze powder: water bottles plus Nether wart make Awkward Potions, the base for most potions; see brewing potions.
What does it do?
Jump Boost raises jump height and cuts fall damage by one block per level. Fermented spider eye turns it into Slowness. Effect list: every potion.
When should you use it?
Useful for crossing mountains and parkour, and for jumping onto blocks without placing steps. See rabbits.
Step by step
Fill three glass bottles with water and place them in the bottom slots of a brewing stand, with blaze powder as fuel. Add Nether wart to make Awkward Potions (Weakness skips this step), then add the main ingredient. Finally add redstone for a longer version, glowstone for a stronger one, or gunpowder for a splash potion. Leaping II also cuts fall damage by two blocks.
Splash, lingering and tips
Rabbit's feet are a rare rabbit drop; Looting helps. Add gunpowder for a splash version you throw, then dragon's breath for a lingering cloud; see splash and lingering potions. Related: parkour.
