Piglins in Minecraft: How to Stop Them Attacking You
Piglins are Nether mobs that attack players unless they wear at least one piece of gold armor. Even then, opening a chest, breaking gold blocks or hitting a piglin makes them angry. Give them gold ingots to barter. Half carry crossbows, most of the rest golden swords, and they turn into zombified piglins after 15 seconds in the Overworld or End.
How do you stop piglins attacking you?
- Wear any gold armor piece, such as golden boots or a golden helmet; see armor.
- Do not open or break chests, barrels or shulker boxes near them, and do not mine gold blocks: that angers every piglin within about 16 blocks.
- Never hit one: a hurt piglin cannot be calmed with gold and its friends nearby join in.
- A piglin angry only because you had no gold calms down if you put gold armor on, distract it with gold, or break line of sight.
Where do piglins spawn?
In groups of 4 in Nether wastes and 3-4 in crimson forests, in light level 11 or lower on Java (7 on Bedrock), and inside bastion remnants. About 1 in 5 is a baby on Java. Adults carry a crossbow (50%), a golden sword (45%) or a golden spear (5%), and each armor slot has a 10% chance of gold armor. See crimson forests and bastions.
What else do piglins do?
- They stare at players holding gold, and snatch gold items you drop to admire them.
- They run from zombified piglins, zoglins and anything with soul fire: soul torches, lanterns and campfires.
- They open wooden and copper doors but not trapdoors, fence gates or iron doors, and cannot climb ladders or swim.
- Piglin brutes in bastions carry golden axes and attack even players in gold.
How do you barter with piglins?
Throw a gold ingot to a calm adult piglin, or use it on one: it admires it for a few seconds and throws back a random item such as ender pearls, fire resistance potions, obsidian, string or a Soul Speed book. Full odds: piglin bartering.
