Netherite Armor in Minecraft: Stats and How to Get It
Netherite armor is the strongest armor: 20 armor points, 12 armor toughness and 40% knockback resistance for a full set. It is made by upgrading diamond armor, and fire and lava do not wear it down.
How strong is netherite armor?
| Piece | Armor points | Toughness | Knockback resistance | Uses (Java) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Helmet | 3 | 3 | 10% | 407 |
| Chestplate | 8 | 3 | 10% | 592 |
| Leggings | 6 | 3 | 10% | 555 |
| Boots | 3 | 3 | 10% | 481 |
A full set gives 20 armor points and has an enchantability of 15.
How do you get it?
Upgrade each diamond piece at a smithing table with a netherite ingot and a netherite upgrade template, found in bastion remnants. The upgrade keeps enchantments.
Tips
The knockback resistance makes you harder to push around in PvP. Netherite items also do not burn in lava, so dropped gear can be saved.
How armor works
A full set takes 24 units of material: 5 for the helmet, 8 for the chestplate, 7 for the leggings and 4 for the boots. Armor points add up across pieces and show as the armor bar, but armor blocks a smaller share of very big hits, which is what armor toughness helps with. Armor loses durability as you take most kinds of damage, and Unbreaking makes it last longer. Each piece of Bedrock armor lasts 1 use longer than on Java. Repair armor in an anvil with its material, or with Mending. See armor and Protection and netherite.
