Mushroom Stew in Minecraft: Hunger and Saturation
Mushroom stew restores 6 hunger and 7.2 saturation and gives the bowl back. Make it from a bowl and mushrooms (one red and one brown always works), or use a bowl on a mooshroom for free stew.
How much does mushroom stew restore?
| Hunger | 6 |
| Saturation | 7.2 |
Each hunger point is half a drumstick, so 6 hunger is 3 drumsticks.
How do you get it?
Craft a bowl with a red and a brown mushroom, or milk a mooshroom with a bowl; there is no cooldown. Stews do not stack.
Tips
Mushrooms grow in the dark, so a mushroom farm or a pen of mooshrooms gives endless stew. Carry a few bowls, since each stew takes one slot.
More about mushroom stew
If you use a stack of bowls on a mooshroom, only one bowl is used and the stew goes into a free slot. Brown mooshrooms fed a flower give suspicious stew instead the next time you milk them.
How hunger works
Hunger points refill the hunger bar (20 points, 10 drumsticks), and saturation is a hidden buffer that drains first. With 18 or more hunger, or any saturation, health regenerates naturally; at 6 or less you cannot sprint, and at 0 you take starvation damage. Most foods take 1.6 seconds to eat, and you cannot eat at full hunger except a few special foods. Foods with high saturation keep you healing longer, which matters most in fights. Raw food cooks the same in a furnace, a smoker or a campfire: smokers are twice as fast, and campfires need no fuel at all. See food and hunger and mooshrooms.
