Mounts of Mayhem (1.21.11)
1.21.11, Mounts of Mayhem, is the Java Edition game drop released on 9 December 2025. It adds spears, the nautilus and zombie nautilus, nautilus armour, netherite horse armour, the camel husk, the parched and zombie horsemen.
How does the spear work?
The spear is a new weapon in wood, stone, copper, iron, gold, diamond and netherite. It cannot mine blocks, reaches further than other weapons, and does no damage if you are too close.
- Jab (quick attack): low damage with knockback, can hit several enemies, with a cooldown that is fastest on wood and slowest on netherite.
- Charge (hold use): damage depends on the material, your view angle and how fast you and the target are moving; while engaged it can knock riders off their mounts.
- Lunge: a spear-only enchantment (I-III) that throws you forward on a jab. It costs 1-3 hunger per use, needs at least 6 hunger points, and costs 1 durability.
What is the nautilus?
The nautilus is a neutral ocean mob with 15 HP that dash-attacks when provoked. Tame and breed it with pufferfish, saddle it and ride it: riders get the new Breath of the Nautilus effect, which pauses oxygen loss, and the jump button uses its dash. It has a 5% chance to drop a nautilus shell on a player kill. Nautilus armour comes in copper, iron, gold, diamond and netherite.
The zombie nautilus spawns underwater ridden by a drowned with a trident, has a coral variant in warm oceans and burns in sunlight unless armoured.
What are the camel husk and the parched?
- Camel husk: an undead camel with 32 HP that spawns in deserts at light level 0, carrying a spear-wielding husk in front and a parched behind. It does not burn in sunlight.
- Parched: a desert skeleton with 16 HP that shoots arrows of Weakness, fires more slowly than a skeleton and is immune to Weakness.
- Netherite horse armour: made by upgrading diamond horse armour at a smithing table.
