Every Minecraft Mob Vote Winner

The Minecraft mob vote ran from 2017 to 2023: viewers picked one new mob (or biome) for the next update, and the losers were usually shelved. Winners include the phantom, glow squid, allay, sniffer and armadillo. It was discontinued on 9 September 2024.

How did the mob vote work?

Each option got its own video explaining what it would add. Early votes were held on the official Minecraft Twitter page during the livestream; from 2022 the vote ran before the show, on a Bedrock server, in the Minecraft Launcher and on Minecraft.net, and in 2023 also in the China Edition launcher. Results were revealed live.

Did any losing mob get added anyway?

Yes, twice. The swamp revamp, which lost the 2019 biome vote, came in The Wild Update, and the copper golem, which lost in 2021, arrived in The Copper Age (1.21.9); see The Copper Age. minecraft.wiki notes the developers have said they are willing to rework old ideas when an update's theme fits.

Is there still a mob vote?

No. The community vote was discontinued on 9 September 2024, so Minecraft Live 2023 was the last event with one. Since then new mobs have arrived in game drops, such as the happy ghast, the nautilus and the sulfur cube; see every Minecraft version and every mob.

What was the Vote Update?

Not a real update: the "Vote Update" was Mojang's April Fools' joke snapshot 23w13a_or_b, released on 1 April 2023. It added an in-game system where players on a world vote on gameplay changes, and each vote unlocked its own silly feature, such as an "other portal" built from glowstone and lit with a water bucket. minecraft.wiki notes that no real Java Edition release or development version called the Vote Update exists. See snapshots.

Does ArtemisPvP have custom mobs?

Yes; see PvE mobs and Boss Eggs.
