Minecraft: Story Mode: The Telltale Game

Minecraft: Story Mode was an episodic story game made by Telltale Games, released in October 2015. You play Jesse, who sets out with friends to find the Order of the Stone, legendary heroes who once slew an ender dragon. Your choices change the story. After Telltale closed, support ended in 2019 and the episodes can no longer be downloaded on most platforms.

How does it play?

It is a point-and-click adventure: you talk to characters, pick dialogue, solve puzzles and make choices with timed button presses. It follows Telltale's usual format of separate episodes, released one at a time, with the story picking up where the last episode ended and remembering your earlier choices. There is no free building like the main game; see Minecraft editions.

How many seasons were there?

Two: the first season from 2015 and Season Two afterward. The first season also came to Netflix as an interactive show on 27 November 2018, after a delay from 7 November. Its music was composed by Antimo & Welles and the folk band Anadel.

Can you still play it?

Only if you already downloaded it on a compatible device or own a physical copy. Telltale's closure ended support on 31 May 2019, and the servers stopped on 25 June 2019, so the episodes are no longer downloadable on most platforms.

What other Minecraft spin-offs are there?

Minecraft Dungeons and its sequel, Minecraft Legends, and the discontinued Minecraft Earth; see Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft Legends and Minecraft Earth. For a story on the big screen, see A Minecraft Movie.
