The /loot Command in Minecraft: Loot Tables
/loot rolls a loot table and gives the result to a player, drops it in the world, or puts it in a container. For example /loot give @s loot minecraft:chests/simple_dungeon gives you a random dungeon chest's contents. It can also copy what a mob drops when killed or what a block drops when mined. Java and Bedrock both have it.

Why use /loot?It is the way to give random rewards: map makers write their own loot tables in a data pack and roll them with /loot; see data packs. It also tests drop rates, such as how Looting changes mob drops, without fighting; see sword enchantments. How does Bedrock /loot differ?Bedrock has give, insert, spawn and replace, and the kill, loot and mine sources, but no fish source. Table names follow Bedrock's own loot table files. More: Bedrock commands. Who can use /loot?Operators at level 2 on Java or 1 on Bedrock with cheats on, plus command blocks and functions; see command blocks. For fixed items use /give instead. Frequently asked questionsDoes /loot kill the mob?No. /loot ... kill only copies what the mob would drop. SourcesEvery fact on this page was checked against these pages; the wording is ours. |
