Jukeboxes in Minecraft: Music Discs and Redstone
A jukebox plays music discs. Use a disc on it to start the song, and use it again to eject the disc. While a disc plays it gives a redstone signal of 15, and a comparator reads which disc is inside. Parrots dance near it, and an allay dancing to it duplicates when you give it an amethyst shard. Craft one from 8 planks and a diamond.
How do you use a jukebox?
Use a disc on it, or feed discs in with a hopper, dropper or crafter. Use it again to pop the disc out. Breaking it drops the disc too. Discs: music discs.
How does a jukebox work with redstone?
- It gives a signal of 15 to adjacent redstone while a disc is playing.
- A comparator reading it gives a strength based on which disc is inside, as long as a disc is in it.
- While playing, it disables hoppers next to it; when the song ends, a hopper below can pull the disc out, which allows looping playlists.
- Redstone strength: signal strength.
What do mobs do near a jukebox?
Parrots within 3 blocks dance; see parrots. Allays dance too, and giving a dancing allay an amethyst shard makes a second allay; both then wait 5 minutes before duplicating again; see allays.
How do you craft one?
8 planks around a diamond. It is broken fastest with an axe and drops itself with any tool. Note blocks are the other music block; see note blocks.
