Honey Bottles in Minecraft: How to Get Honey
Use a glass bottle on a full beehive or bee nest (honey level 5) to get a honey bottle. Drinking it restores 6 hunger, cures Poison, and works even when your hunger bar is full. Honey bottles also craft honey blocks and sugar. Keep a campfire under the hive so the bees do not attack you, or use a dispenser to collect honey automatically.
How do you collect honey safely?
- Wait until the hive or nest shows honey dripping (level 5).
- Put a campfire under it so the smoke calms the bees.
- Use a glass bottle for a honey bottle, or shears for honeycomb.
- Or let a dispenser with glass bottles do it, which never angers bees.
- Bees: bees and honey.
What does honey do?
It restores 6 hunger and 1.2 saturation, removes Poison, and gives the bottle back so you can reuse it. It takes 2 seconds to drink, a little longer than eating. Unlike milk it only removes Poison, so your other effects stay; see milk.
What can you craft with honey?
| Item | Recipe |
|---|---|
| Honey block | 4 honey bottles |
| Sugar | 1 honey bottle makes 3 sugar |
| Honey bottles | From a honey block back into 4 bottles |
Honey blocks are sticky and slow mobs; see slime and honey blocks.
How do you farm honey?
Plant flowers around beehives so bees fill them, and set dispensers with bottles under the hives fired by an observer when the hive fills. More bees and more flowers nearby speed it up. Flowers: flowers.
