Hero of the Village in Minecraft: Discounts and Gifts
Hero of the Village is the effect you get for winning a raid, as long as you killed at least one raider. It lasts 40 minutes and makes every villager's trades cheaper, starting at 30% off. On Java, villagers also throw you gifts. Java gives a level matching the raid's Bad Omen level; Bedrock has one level.
How big is the discount?
| Level | Discount |
|---|---|
| I | 30% |
| II | 36.25% |
| III | 42.5% |
| IV | 48.75% |
| V | 55% |
Each extra level adds 6.25% of the original price. The cut is rounded down to whole items but is at least 1, so a 14 emerald trade at level III costs 9. It applies to all villagers, not just the village you saved; the wandering trader is only affected on Bedrock. Trading basics: villager trading.
How do you get it?
Get Bad Omen or Raid Omen, walk into a village to start a raid, and win every wave; see raids and Bad Omen and Raid Omen. The /effect command can also give it, and villagers react the same way.
What gifts do villagers give?
On Java only, a villager that can see you within 5 blocks throws an item linked to its job, such as food from farmers and butchers or tools and armor from smiths, then waits before the next gift. If mob griefing is on, villagers can pick up thrown seeds and bread before you do.
How do you keep it?
It is a normal effect, so milk and death remove it. Trade during its 40 minutes, and stack it with zombie villager curing for even lower prices.
Tips for using it
Save expensive trades such as enchanted books and diamond gear for when it is active, since the cut is biggest on high prices. Higher omen levels give bigger raids but a higher Hero level on Java.
