Ghast Tear in Minecraft: How to Get It and Uses
A ghast tear is a drop from ghasts in the Nether, with a 50% chance per kill without Looting. It brews potions of Regeneration, crafts End crystals with an eye of ender and glass, and makes dried ghasts, which grow into happy ghasts you can ride.
How do you get a ghast tear?
Kill ghasts; Looting raises the drop. Tears often fall into lava or off cliffs, so fight ghasts over solid ground and close to you.
What is it used for?
- Brewing potions of Regeneration
- Crafting End crystals
- Crafting dried ghasts for happy ghasts
- Regeneration splash and lingering potions
More about it
Reflect a ghast fireball back with a hit or an arrow to kill the ghast with its own shot. Use a bow or a crossbow to bring it down near you so the tear lands where you can reach it. Ghasts spawn in Nether wastes, soul sand valleys and basalt deltas. A dried ghast placed next to or in water slowly rehydrates and becomes a happy ghast.
Tip
Bring a bow and Fire Resistance; ghasts float over lava lakes, and tears that fall in lava burn.
Items and recipes
Most items stack to 64 in one inventory slot; tools, armor, potions and a few others do not stack at all. The recipe book in your crafting screen shows every recipe you have unlocked, and picking up a new item unlocks the recipes that use it. In Creative mode every item is in the creative inventory, and with cheats on the /give command hands you any item by its ID. Items you drop disappear after 5 minutes on the ground, so pick up rare drops quickly. See crafting and End crystals.
