Minecraft Game Drops: Every Drop and Its Version
Game drops are Minecraft's smaller themed updates, released three to four times a year instead of one big yearly update. The first named one was Armored Paws (1.20.5, April 2024), with Bats and Pots (1.20.3) counted as a drop afterwards. Each drop has a Java and a Bedrock version number; the latest released is Wilderness Bound (Java 26.3, Bedrock 26.50).

Why did Mojang switch to drops?
Drops are planned up to about two years ahead and released roughly once a business quarter, so new content arrives more often. A drop can be small, like Tiny Takeover, or large, like Wilderness Bound. Developers have called them spring, summer, fall and winter drops by the season they come out.
Why did version numbers change in 2026?
From 2026 Java versions start with the year: 26.1 is the first drop of 2026 and 26.2 the second. Bedrock uses its own numbers, such as 26.10 and 26.30, for the same drops. See Tiny Takeover (26.1) and Wilderness Bound (26.3).
