Frostburn Update (1.10)
1.10, the Frostburn Update, is the Java Edition update released on 8 June 2016. It added polar bears, strays and husks, magma blocks, Nether wart blocks, red Nether bricks, bone blocks and fossils, structure blocks, and an auto-jump option.
Which mobs did 1.10 add?
- Polar bears in snowy biomes: adults attack when hit or when their cubs are near, and cubs run away.
- Strays: 80% of skeletons spawning under the open sky in icy biomes.
- Husks: 80% of zombies spawning under the open sky in deserts. Their bare-handed attacks inflict Hunger.
Spiders that spawn in cold biomes can also carry a stray as a rider. For husks, see zombies.
What blocks were added?
Magma blocks, crafted from four magma cream, which mobs avoid and most mobs cannot spawn on (magma cubes, zombie pigmen and squid are the exceptions); Nether wart blocks; red Nether bricks; and bone blocks, which also make up the new fossils buried under deserts and swamps.
What are structure blocks?
1.10 made structure blocks usable: in save mode they store a build and in load mode they place it again elsewhere, a tool for map makers. They can also be triggered by redstone.
What is auto-jump?
1.10 added an Auto-Jump option that makes you jump automatically when you walk into a one-block step. See controls.
