Frost Walker Enchantment in Minecraft: What It Does
Frost Walker turns water under your feet into frosted ice as you walk, letting you cross lakes and oceans on foot, and it stops magma block and campfire damage. It is a treasure enchantment, so it never comes from an enchanting table, and it cannot be combined with Depth Strider.
Frost Walker at a glance
| Max level | II |
| Goes on | Boots |
| Cannot combine with | Depth Strider. |
| Where to get it | Librarians, fishing, jungle temple and stronghold chests, and raid drops on Bedrock; not the enchanting table. |
Get enchantments from an enchanting table with bookshelves, from enchanted books on an anvil, from librarian villagers, or as loot; see enchanting and anvils.
What does Frost Walker do?
Frosted ice melts back into water after a short time, and level II freezes a wider circle. It does not freeze lava or protect you from it. More: ice types.
More about Frost Walker
Frosted ice cannot be picked up, even with Silk Touch, and you cannot use it to make permanent ice. It forms only around you while you walk, so stopping still lets it melt under you after a moment.
Enchanting tables use lapis lazuli and experience levels, anvils combine books and gear, and librarians sell books. Treasure enchantments only come from loot, trading and fishing, never the table, and higher levels cost more experience to apply and repair.
Tips for Frost Walker
Use it to cross water without a boat or to walk safely over magma blocks in the Nether. Every enchantment: every enchantment.
