Fermented Spider Eye in Minecraft: How to Get It and Uses
A fermented spider eye corrupts potions in a brewing stand, usually turning them into their opposite: Swiftness becomes Slowness and Healing becomes Harming. It is also how you brew Weakness and Invisibility.
How do you get a fermented spider eye?
Craft a spider eye, sugar and a brown mushroom.
What is it used for?
- Brewing potions of Weakness (from a water bottle)
- Turning Night Vision into Invisibility
- Turning Healing into Harming and Swiftness or Leaping into Slowness
- Curing zombie villagers (Weakness plus a golden apple)
More about it
Wandering traders sometimes buy a fermented spider eye for 3 emeralds. A potion of Weakness lasts 1:30, or 4:00 extended. Weakness lowers your melee damage, which is why it is also thrown at enemies in PvP.
Tip
Weakness splash potions plus a golden apple are the way to cure a zombie villager and get cheap trades.
Items and recipes
Most items stack to 64 in one inventory slot; tools, armor, potions and a few others do not stack at all. The recipe book in your crafting screen shows every recipe you have unlocked, and picking up a new item unlocks the recipes that use it. In Creative mode every item is in the creative inventory, and with cheats on the /give command hands you any item by its ID. Items you drop disappear after 5 minutes on the ground, so pick up rare drops quickly. See crafting and brewing.
