Feather Falling Enchantment in Minecraft: What It Does
Feather Falling reduces fall damage and ender pearl damage, a lifesaver for long falls, elytra crashes into the ground and pearl travel. The maximum is IV, which is rare from an enchanting table, so most players combine two Feather Falling III books on an anvil.
Feather Falling at a glance
| Max level | IV |
| Goes on | Boots |
| Cannot combine with | It goes with Protection and Depth Strider or Frost Walker. |
| Where to get it | Enchanting tables (IV is rare), anvils, librarians, fishing and structure loot. |
Get enchantments from an enchanting table with bookshelves, from enchanted books on an anvil, from librarian villagers, or as loot; see enchanting and anvils.
What does Feather Falling do?
It reduces all fall damage even though falls normally ignore armor, and it also lowers the damage from landing a thrown ender pearl. More: fall damage.
More about Feather Falling
Each level cuts fall damage by 12%, and it adds to Protection toward the overall cap. It is the most useful boot enchantment for mountains, caves and the End, where a single fall can end a trip.
Enchanting tables use lapis lazuli and experience levels, anvils combine books and gear, and librarians sell books. Treasure enchantments only come from loot, trading and fishing, never the table, and higher levels cost more experience to apply and repair.
Tips for Feather Falling
Feather Falling IV on boots is a must for the End, mountains and elytra flying. Every enchantment: every enchantment.
