Evokers and Vexes in Minecraft
Evokers are spell-casting illagers found in woodland mansions and raids. They summon rows of fangs from the ground and groups of 3 flying vexes, and they are the only source of the totem of undying, which they drop every time. Vexes are small flying sword-wielders that pass through walls and die on their own after a while.
How does an evoker fight?
- Fangs: jaws rise from the ground in a line or circle for 6 damage each on Normal (4 on Easy and 9 on Hard on Java; always 6 on Bedrock), which armor does not reduce (Protection does).
- Vexes: 3 at a time, while fewer than 8 are nearby.
- It runs from you when you are within 10 blocks and not mid-spell.
- Out of combat it turns blue sheep red, with the famous wololo sound.
- 24 health; it drops a totem of undying, 0-1 emeralds and 10 experience.
How do vexes work?
Vexes have 14 health, carry an iron sword and fly through any block, even lava and bedrock. They never drop the sword. Vexes summoned by an evoker start taking damage after 30 to 119 seconds and die, so you can also wait them out. They give 5 experience.
How do you beat an evoker?
Rush it: close the gap fast, since it flees, and keep moving sideways to dodge fangs. Kill the evoker first so no more vexes come, then deal with the rest. Fight in the open so vexes cannot hide in walls. A bow or crossbow helps against one that keeps running. Totems: totem of undying.
Where do you find evokers?
On floors 2 and 3 of woodland mansions, where they never respawn, and in raids on Normal and Hard, sometimes riding a ravager. Mansions: mansions. Raids: raids. The illager family: illagers.
