How to Get Ender Pearls

Endermen drop ender pearls: 0-1 per kill (50%) without Looting, up to 0-4 with Looting III. They spawn in all three dimensions and most often in the Nether's warped forest; piglin bartering is the other main source.

How many ender pearls do endermen drop?

SwordPearls per killAverage
No Looting0-1 (50% chance of 1)0.5
Looting I0-21
Looting II0-31.5
Looting III0-42

These are Java Edition numbers. Endermen also drop whatever block they are carrying.

Where do endermen spawn?

Endermen live in all three dimensions. In the Nether they spawn most often in warped forests, less often in Nether wastes and rarely in soul sand valleys; on Java they come in groups of four. minecraft.wiki's mob farm guide says endermen are best farmed in the End or a warped forest, and that most water-based farms fail because endermen teleport out when hurt.

How do you fight an enderman safely?

  • Do not look at its face: looking at its head for a quarter of a second from up to 64 blocks away makes it hostile.
  • Wear a carved pumpkin on your head and you can look at them freely.
  • Endermen teleport away from water, lava and projectiles, so arrows rarely land.

Other ways to get ender pearls

  • Piglin bartering: 2-4 pearls at a time, about 15.6 gold ingots per pearl on average; see bartering.
  • Eyes of ender are crafted from ender pearls (and blaze powder) to find strongholds; see finding a stronghold.

How are ender pearls used on ArtemisPvP?

Ender pearls are a key PvP escape tool, and on ArtemisPvP duel creators can turn Ender Pearl throws on or off; see duel settings and pearl clutches.
