End Crystals in Minecraft: Healing the Dragon and Crystal PvP
End crystals sit on top of the obsidian pillars on the End's main island and heal the ender dragon; destroy them first. You can craft them (7 glass, an eye of ender and a ghast tear) and place them on obsidian or bedrock, where they explode with power 6 when hit. Four on the exit portal respawn the dragon, and players also use them as weapons in Crystal PvP.
How do end crystals heal the dragon?
There are 10 crystals, two protected by iron bar cages. The dragon draws a beam from the nearest crystal within 32 blocks and heals 1 HP every half second. Shoot them with arrows, snowballs or anything else, or climb up for the caged ones. They respawn when you respawn the dragon. See the ender dragon.
How do you respawn the ender dragon?
Place one end crystal on each of the 4 flat sides of the exit portal. They restore the pillar crystals and the dragon comes back. A re-summoned dragon drops only 500 experience; see XP farms.
How strong is an end crystal explosion?
Power 6, the same as a charged creeper and stronger than TNT. It explodes from almost any hit, even ones that would do no damage, and it can be blocked with a shield. Placed in the End it also keeps a fire burning where it sits. See explosions.
