Drowned Farm in Minecraft: Tridents and Copper
A drowned farm turns drowned into loot: rotten flesh, copper ingots, nautilus shells and, rarely, tridents. The easiest version floods a zombie dungeon so zombies turn into drowned. For tridents you need naturally spawned drowned, usually from an aerial farm over a river or ocean, because converted drowned never drop tridents in either edition.
What kinds of drowned farms are there?
| Farm | How it works | Gives |
|---|---|---|
| Flooded monster room | A zombie spawner room filled with water; zombies drown and convert | Zombie and drowned drops, XP; nautilus shells on Bedrock, no tridents |
| Aerial | A dark platform over a river or ocean biome, 24+ blocks from you | Tridents, nautilus shells, copper |
| Underwater | Natural drowned lured with a villager and funneled | Tridents and shells |
Spawners: monster rooms.
Why no tridents from converted drowned?
On Java, drowned that converted from zombies do not drop tridents or nautilus shells, so only naturally spawned drowned in water biomes give them. On Bedrock, converted drowned can drop nautilus shells, but never tridents. Drowned: drowned.
How should you kill them?
Kill them yourself, with Looting, to get experience and the best drops, since only player kills drop experience. Many designs drop them to a 1 by 1 spot where you can hit them safely. Drowned holding a trident throw it at you, so keep the kill spot covered. Tridents: the trident.
Tips
Build aerial farms in river or ocean biomes, keep the area dark, and light up caves nearby so the mob cap goes to the farm; see the mob cap. General designs: mob farms.
