Dropper vs Dispenser in Minecraft: What's the Difference?
A dropper spits items out as they are, or pushes them into a chest or hopper in front of it. A dispenser uses them: it shoots arrows, places water and lava, lights TNT, fires fireworks, puts armor on players and uses bone meal. Both hold 9 items and fire once per redstone pulse.
How do you craft them?

The bow can be damaged and its enchantments do not carry over. Both blocks face the player when placed and can point up or down.

What is a dropper good for?
- Moving items up: a column of droppers facing up passes items one block per pulse, which a hopper cannot do.
- Feeding a container in front of it, as part of item elevators and sorters; see item sorters.
- Minigames that hand out random items, since it picks a random filled slot each pulse.
What should you know before using them?
- A redstone torch attached to a dropper or dispenser does not power it.
- On Java they cannot be moved by pistons, so they cannot ride a flying machine.
- They fire once each time the signal turns on, so pair them with a clock for repeated shots; see redstone clocks.
- Hoppers can fill them automatically from a chest.
